I was sitting down today with a friend while having a cup of tea, when suddenlly she asked me,"have you read uniten daily?". I was suprised cause this is a person who could not care less about the stuff that is goin on around her. She said, "did you know that there is a group of student activist in our university?". I was shocked and taken a back from hearing the second question. Immediately i contacted a few "people" to find out whether what i heard was true?

My dear friends, the fact is, this is not a activist or anti-educational group. This is a place where all of us can share our views and ideas on how we should improve the quality of our beloved university.

Look up any website and encyclopedia about any higher educational institution and you will see that the first thing that appears is the history and tradition of that place. Although we have history, but what is our tradition. Our seniors are not even proud of this university. Take for example the homecoming, from 1000 open seats, there is only less than 200 confirmed. The total number of graduates from this university in the past decade is nearly 8000 students. Where has the remainder 7200 dissapeared? Are they not happy to come back to the place that constructed and molded them to become who they are today. There is no love cause there is no culture? Something urgent has to be done.

From some of the conversations that i have had in the past years, i have noticed the mentality of UNITEN students. In their head is that this is only a place where they pay money to get a degree. Whatever else that happens is none of their buisness. Belive me or not but many of UNITEN finest students don't even know the name of their vice chancellor or even the name of their own dean. And for your information these are dean's list and 3 pointer students
Can we blame them? I for one don't, cause the lecturers in this university only encourage education and learning. What is the use graduating with a CGPA of 3.80 but you don't even know how to make a plate of 'nasi goreng' or you don't even know how to jump start a car. The fact is that you will suffer once you have left this walls behind you.

UNITEN GENERATES PROFESSIONALS or UNITEN GENERATES PROFESIONAL. Come on! Take a look around us and we can so easily see that everything here is run by the same people over and over again. How can we generate professionals like this. How can new people learn anything new if they are not given a chance. Hoping for luck to get a chance in this situation is impossible cause luck is when chance meets oppurtunity. There is no luck when there is no chance. I have been studying here for the past 3 years and everytime I see the same faces doing the different things. I do not say they are not good but what happened to the rest of the people who were promised a chance to excel when they filled up the OMR to register
in this university. These people too were once a long time ago given a chance by someone who belived in them, so is it wrong for us to belive in someone new again. If it is a blunder then we shall learn from our mistakes and never make them again. At least the new person gets to try while the old is still here and not gone. Has the management taught what will happen if the old student has already graduated and then only a replacement is found. That new person will have no one to learn from.

The student voice is the individual and collective perspective and actions of young people within the context of learning and education. It is identified in schools as both a metaphorical practice
and as a pragmatic concern.Student voice is increasingly identified as a pillar of successful school reform, as educational researchers, academic institutions, and educational support organizations around the world increasingly advocate for the inclusion of students in the reform process after identifying student voice as a vital element of student engagement.

ok my bad... but please bear in mind this is a blog and not a theses or news paper article neither a formal report. The main objective here is to state our views and not pin point the source of our information. But since you have brought up this matter, in part 2, the sources will be clearly highlighted. if that is still not enough please inform me ..:) anyway thank you
