There will be no election this year as only 8 candidates appear during "Hari Penamaan Calon". With that, all 8 candidates are automatically elected as the new Student Representative Council for 2007/2008 session. Four more seats will be decided later by the new leadership or by Student Affair Center.

Its quite sad actually to see low number of candidates running for the SRC's seat. To represent themselves and other students, to practice their rights. Maybe after all that had happened during the 2006/2007 session, have destroyed the trust that the student give to SRC and thus reflected to the number of candidates that decided to run for the seats.

But how many students know what is the use of having a Student Representative Council? Is it just a glamourous post to have? A good place to get nice certs and make your resume look more convincing? NO! Basically that attitude that made the SRC looks bad and rather unconvincing in practicing the student right. When you have great power, you hold big responsibilities. You hold the trust of the people who have voted for you. So you need to fight for them, work for them, hear their problems, delegate it to the administration, and fight for it. Not being a coward by running away like dogs with tails between their legs when being pressured with problems.

As a student, we also have the rights to nominate and choose who we want to represent us, to be our leader, champion our cause. I'd like to share this message that i received from a friend of mine. It seems like it has been circulated in Yahoo Messenger recently. I wonder how many of us have read it either from YM, MSN Messenger, Friendster Bulletin, or maybe Aibob's forums.

Important to all Uniten students!!!
The MPP elections are coming very soon. Please DONT VOTE!! I repeat DONT VOTE. Its a total waste of time, its not as though who got the highest vote is gonna become the president?? u need kulitfication not votes....this is because our f*cked up adminstration have put a golden rule on how the president should be... GOLDEN RULE: He or she who would be our MPP president should be kuning langsat in skin colour with big head without any brains(if there is any, please disregard as it most probably wouldnt work coz too lazy) What has the MPP dont for us? If another non-Muslim wins this time around,he or she is not going to become the president? So,y we non muslim wanna vote?Sorry if I sound racist,Im not-no hard feelings to the muslims, just fedup with the MPP elections.
Y waste your time?i rather sit down and study for finals rather than going to vote... Repost if its true,if not-you are most welcome to sh*t the f*ck up and continue doing what you were doing before-being dumb. those who are scared to speak the truth, dont speak the truth. Sign, VSS Raaj MJ Ming

Ok. I dare to speak the truth. The truth is, who in the first place nominate that kuning langsat with big head without any brain fella to run for the seat? Who in the first place vote for him/her? Its the student right? So if you don't vote, you are the one who should shut up and sit there at the corner without saying anything because you didn't practiced your right. I personally don't care if half of the SRC are filled with non-muslim or even international student AS long as they do their work, and fight for our cause.

We as student have to vote for our candidate, the one we think can bring the change in our life as UNITEN's student. The one who can speak on our behalf. So if you didn't want to vote, who will fill the seat and champion our rights? A lazy and coward fella without brains who thinks he can be future politicians?

If you think you are good enough to make a difference, be a candidate, run for the SRC election. Show that youre someone who can create a great leap forward to UNITEN's student. If you can't do that, atleast VOTE the candidate that you think can do it. Every vote counts, and the one who has been elected should fight for the rights of their voters. President or plain secreteriats, they all have the same common goal and carries the same burden. To champion our cause, the students welfare, speak for on behalf of us. Because they represent us, students.

So for VSS Raaj MJ Ming, if you guys thinks you're good, then you should run for SRC, champion the cause of your non-muslim friends. Speak up and stand out. Don't just yell and whine in the net, saying don't vote for election ( in fact there will be no vote casting since there are no election). Walk the talk lah.
